Meet Kat,
The Lit Litigator
Criminal law, courtroom stories, and 35 years of trial law expertise, all served from behind a different kind of bar. Â
I'm Kat, the criminal defense attorney behind The Lit Litigator.

For more than 35 years, I've spent my professional life in courtrooms, defending people accused of crimes, trying cases, and teaching lawyers the art of trial advocacy. I'm also a trial advocacy textbook author, educator, and firm believer that understanding the law shouldn't require a law degree.

After decades in the courtroom, I've learned that the most fascinating stories about our justice system aren't always found in statutes, court opinions, or television crime dramas. They're found in the people, the decisions, the strategies, and the moments that shape what really happens inside a courtroom.

That's what The Lit Litigator is all about.

For lawyers, it's a place to sharpen courtroom skills, challenge conventional wisdom, and explore the practical realities of trial advocacy.

For everyone else, it's a chance to look behind the headlines, understand criminal law and constitutional rights, and discover how our justice system actually works.

We do it all with a little humor, a healthy dose of candor, and occasionally a cocktail.

Because the law is serious business. Talking about it doesn't always have to be.

So pull up a stool. There's a seat for everyone at this bar.
